For the Love of America -- Giving for Gratitude
How can we repay gratitude to someone who sacrificed their life for our liberty and freedom? How can we relieve the grief of families who have lost a service member? The answer is, we cannot. A life lost is infinite. All we can do is continue to remember and honor those who have courage to risk everything for the sake of our Country. On December 12, 2014 a good friend lost her 22 year old son serving in Afghanistan. It is with gratitude for the life and sacrifice of Spc. Wyatt J. Martin that the recent Nuthatch fundraising charity supports the VFW National Home for Children.
The VFW National Home for Children, located in Eaton Rapids, Michigan was founded in 1925 as a place where the families left behind by war, mothers and children, brothers and sisters, could remain together, keeping the family circle intact even when their serviceman didn't come home. The campus and their services have evolved and changed over the past 90 years, but the VFW National Home for Children continues to serve as a living memorial to America’s veterans by helping military and veteran families during difficult times.
For every American Flag Tote sold through July 4, 2016, Nuthatch will donate $5.00 to the home. Tote purchases have a reduced shipping cost of $2.65. Nuthatch is also giving away a 2016 VFW National Home Annual Pin for every two totes purchased. Nothing will bring back the lives of those killed during active military service, but supporting other military service men and woman through this and other charities is a small way to give back and keep their memory alive.
