Believing in Paper Greeting Cards
Do you still give paper cards as, or with, gifts? While Facebook, texting and other social media have made it more convenient to wish a friend happy birthday, fortunately paper cards have not gone entirely extinct. In fact, taking the time to purchase or send a paper card offers an unwritten sentiment that you cared enough to take time to purchase a special card for their special occasion.
In my world gift giving is about personal sacrifice. The recipient occupies my mind (and heart) during shopping for just the right gift. Paper greeting cards are at that same level. My ultimate paper card gift would be hand made with my own personal sentiment, but when creative artwork and creative words are absent, pre-made greeting cards fill that need.
Purchasing paper cards on-line can save time. Pre-planning your card needs for a few months in advance and purchasing on-line in bulk can save even more time. In our age of fast and easy technology I believe there is still a place for hard copy sentiments. Whether you pick up a greeting card at the grocery or gift store, or purchase on-line, I believe giving a paper card has more meaning beyond an e-card.
